T&A_Testing is a series of real-time audio reactive shaders that pushes the boundaries of DJing and automated visuals. Designed to blur the lines between the roles of a DJ and VJ, this project is an exploration of the possibilities of HLSL shaders, utilizing the full power of a computer's graphic card to create stunning real-time visuals that react to the music.
Inspired by the innovative processing GIFs of Étienne Jacobs, the project initially began with the goal of experimenting with perlin and simplex noise to add an organic touch to visuals. The first creation was a captivating virus-like creature that was brought to life through 3D graphics. This led to a fascination with exploring further possibilities in 3D graphics, eventually discovering raymarching and shaders by Inigo Quilez.
As the project developed, the use of fog and black and white endless loops became a favorite, with infinite and empty worlds as the primary inspiration for the visual style. By analyzing the audio output of the DJ controller in real-time, these shaders can dynamically adjust their parameters to create stunning visual effects that are perfectly synchronized with the music. This creates a truly immersive experience for the audience, as they are able to see and feel the music in a way that is not possible with traditional lighting and effects.
